ADDINCTON STOCK SALE. CHRIBTOHURCH, Aug. 1. Largo entries and good quality were characteristic of to-day’s Aletropolitan live stock sales. Prices in most instances improved as the sale proceeded, firming at late rates. Messrs Matson’s review of the sale is as follows: Beef—The total entry was 525 head. All the lots in the yard were in splendid condition. Both steer and cow lines from Kokatahi, AVost Coast, brought £l4 4s. 'The market opened from 2fls to 255" easier than last week, blit it finished firmly at late rat:... Prices ’were: Steers, best £2O to £24, prime £lB to £l9, medium £l4 10s to £l6 15s, liglit £ll iOs to £l2 lss. Cows sold: _ Heavy £l2 to £i4 ios, prime £9 15s to £ll 10s. medium £7 10s to £9, light £5 ids to £6 15s. Heifers sold as follows: Heavy £l3 10s, to £l4 15s; p'riltie £ll 15s to £i3 ss, medium £8 10s to £lO ss, light £7 to £8 IDs. Veal—'there was j list sufficient to fill requirements. Prices were a shade easier. Small calves sold at 18s to 255, niediiiin 27s to 335, good 35s to 555. Runner sold: Medium £3 to £3 15s, good £4 to £6 10s. Fat sheep—There was a heavy yarding, some excellent ewes and wethers I Ting included. The rates were slightly easier at the start, but they hardened later. Best ewes sold to 41s lOd, prime 34s to 38s, medium 30s to 335, light to 27s 6d. Best wethers said 42s to 455, prime 38s to 4is 6d, light to 365, extra heavy 45s to 525. Store sheep—’there was a fair entry. Ho'ggbts were in good demand, lii sonie eases last, week’s rates were exceeded. There was a limited entry of adult store sheep. Both ewes and wethers sold readily. Half-bred hoggets fetched 22s 5d to 245, three-quar-ter bred 22s 9d to 25s 6d, crossbred elves 24s 2d to 31s 2d, adult half bred wethers 29s Id to 33s 3d, halfbred full and failing mouthed' 30s 6d, four and six tooth 36s 9d, three-quarter bred sound hioutli ewes 33s 3d, tour, six anil eight tooth halfbred ewes 395.
Pigs—There was a large yarding of pork. Tlie quality was good. Prices advanced on late rates. Tn bacon there iVas a medium entry. The price showed an improvement. Choppers sold at £2 to £5, light pork 40s to £4 4s; mediiuh 4os to 52b, Heavy. 55s to 65§i The average price! wds 8d per lit.
