The hockey match oil Cass Square yesterday afternooii between tlie Alawhera (Grey) arid Hokitika ladies teams to decide who should hold the Milligan Cup, resulted in a draw, no score. The Afawhera Club therefore win the cup, having lo points against Hokitika’s 15. Alawhera have played two draws during the season, while Hokitika had oiic loss and one draw. The game yesterday was a very fine one, and the largo attendance present followed the play from start to finish with very close interest. in the first half, Afawhera did most of the attacking, and they had several good opportunities to soore, but just failed to get there. Hokitika also had their chances, one particularly hot attack just missing by inches. The ball travelled tip and down the field, the scene of attack changing with great rapidity. The second half was equally fast, and this spell was, if anything, ill favour of Hokitika, who had several fine openings, in which the speed of tho visitors Was just sufficient to prevent the attack being driven home. Then again t..e scene of operations would change ml Alawhera were attacking fiercely, but the defence proved too good and away the danger would be driven. The closing scene, with both sides striving their utmost saw a hot Hokitika attack just miss by inches, and relief coming, play was in midfield" when time was called, with the result a pointless draw after the best exhibition seen on the ground this season.
