DOBSON MINE IDLE. 250 MINERS INVOLVED. GREYMOUTH, Aug. 2. Tlie Dobson Mine was idle yesterdayafternoon and to-day owing to a. dispute arising when two miners were transferred from hewing to trucking. They refused this work and the remainder of the men later declined to work, two hundred and fifty miners now being involved. FIRE AT DAIIGAVILLE. DARGAVILLE, Aug. 2. A fire'at about 1.30 o’clock .this morning badly- gutted a shop occupied by Mate Peko, draper, cl other and tobacconist.; The billiard saloon at the rear of the; premises escaped injury, but the stock in the shop, with the exception of that in the windows, was practically, a total loss. The fire had a good hold when discovered, and the brigade made a good save. The owner, who had been stock-taking, left the premises at 9.30 o’clock and cannot account for the outbreak. The premises was owned by J.. C. Griffiths, of Auckland. The insurances are held in the N.Z. Office, but the amounts are unavailable. Peko’s lo<ks is a heavy- one, but the building is not much damaged.
