ROSS NEWS.

(From Our Own Correspondent). A very pretty wedding was celebrated at St. Paul’s Church, Ross, on Thursday evening, ■ the contracting parties being Clara Ellen, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs S. P. Evans (Mayor and Alayoress), of Ross and John B. Flynn, of Wellington. The bride who entered the church on the arm of her father was daintily attired in a gown of ivory taffeta with an over-dress of ivory georgette and silver lace. She also wore a coronet of silver lace and orange blossom and carried a beautiful bouquet of roses and Scotch heather. ,j The bride was attended by her sister Bella as bridesmaid, who wore a gdwn of shot flame tafieta and a coronet of silver leaves and scarf of flame tulle, and carried a bouquet to tone. Air Prince Evans filled the role of best man and Air R. Richards acted as groomsman. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. E. Osmers and was the first evening wedding to take place in Ross. The church was nicely decorated for the occasion. Miss M. Collett ably presided at the organ and played the wedding march. After the ceremony a large number of guests were entertained at the residence of the bride’s parents when the usual toasts were duly proposed and honoured. Airs Evans received her guests wearing a mauve crepe-de-chine dress relieved with ivory lace and hat to match. The newly-wedded couple left later in the evening per motor car, en route for Wellington, which is to be their future home. The bride’s going-nway costume was a frock of navy repp with Oriental trimings, fawn coat and hat to match. Numerous telegrams ■ were received from .their many well-wishers and they were also the recipients of a large number of costly and useful presents. The young couple carry with them thfc good wishes of a host of friends of this district. His Lordship Bishop West-W at son, who has been in the south during the week, will hold services in Ross on Sunday evening at 7 o’clock.
