MOLES ON THE CHEEK. LONDON, June I. Tho dramatic arrest of George James Donovan, aged ‘,32. a mote? mechanic, who with Leonard Taylor. 24, and James Weaver. 21. hawkers, nro charged with murdering Mr F. E. Smith, uezd 62, on May 18, was described at Brighten yesterday. Inspector George Wakefield of the Maidstone police said that early one morning lie found Donovan asleep under a Maidstone bridge. Donovan, •so lie said walked from London ami gave his name as George O’Brien. “J turned my light on his face,” said, the inspector, “apd saw two moles on his right cheek. I at once recognised him as tlie man wanted in Brighton for murder.”

Rhmla Spragg, of Bourne street,, Hastings, said site had known Donovan for two years. He told her that lie had io run from Brighton, and explained that along with two men lie had dragged an old man into tho hack of their ear and driven invay to the race hill. The old man was robbed of £ls.

GIRL’S £2,000 A YEAR AT 2-1

A Paris court, the presiding judge in which receives only £'£oo a year, was :«.ston|ished yesterday when a. young woman came before it and declared that she was employed by prominent firm of dressmakers as a saleswoman at £1,750 per year, with an entertainment allowance of £BOO and a percentage on sales. Slio was Mile. Simone Gray, a pretty dark-haired girl of 24. She declared that she- had a three-years contract with the firm, and that one of the clauses provided for a penalty of £-2000 against the party who should break lit. She had .brought considerable trade to the firm, but they suddenly dismissed her on the ground that certain persons she had introduced had not paid their bills.

The court declared that the grounds for dismissal were inadequate. The dressmakers were ordered to pay Mile. Gray £2OOO, as -Well as a month’s salary, while two- experts were named to work out the amount of commission' due to her.
