UNION APPROACHING. . OF AUSTRIA AND GERMANY. (United Press Association.—By ElectricTelegraph .—Copyright.) BERLIN, July 23. The movement for the Union of Austria and Germany is rapidly gaining an impetus. The statesmen of both countries have long paved the way, through their co-operation on social and industrial questions for the unification of their penal codes and railway regulations; hut the movement has recently gathered speed and weight. Both the German Chancellor and the President of the Reichstag belong to the Socialist Party, whic-li especially favours Austro-German Union because the Socialist element, in Austria is a powerful one. The speeches at the Schubert Festival at Vienna have produced a resounding echo in all political circles in Germany. The newspapers there of every political complexion, reports tlie ■proceedings with pride. Even the Nationalist paper “Allgemcine Zeitung” rejoices that the influence of German music has caused thousands of AustroGermans to avow allegiance to a United Germany.
