GERMAN OLYMPIAD. Australian Press Assn.—United Service GENEVA. July 22. Twenty thousand swimmers of both sexes have started to swim in different parts of Germany along the rivers Rhine, Saar, Neckar and Moselle tc Cologne, where a German athleticgymnastic meeting will be held. One contingent left Basle on Saturday and carried a casket containing greetings from the Committee of the Swiss National Gymnastic I* etc at- Lucerne. A doctor in a motor launch accompanies the swimmers. The distance from Basic to Cologne by the river is 250 miles. COLOGNE, July 22. Twelve thousand clubs, with a total membership of two millions, including representatives from Germany s lost colonies, will compete in the gymnastic meeting here. Already special trains have .conveyed visitors licie, hundreds of whom have slept in the open air, owing to the lack Of accommodation.
