A LARGE FIRE. (Received this dav at. 9.30 a.in.T SYDNEY, July 24
A fire seriously damaged large butter stores of Norco Co-operative Limited, in Sussex Street, early this morning. Two floors were gutted and many thousands of pounds worth of butter and dairy products were lost.
TRADE DEPRESSION
SYDNEY, July 24
The Ravin government is taking definite action to solve the coal trade depression. The Premier stated the government will insist on a. reduction of the price of coal, the high price of which is imposing a. heavy burden on railways, tramways and other facilities, in addition to keeping up manufacturing costs. Overseas trade, which absorbed three and a-lialf million tons in 1013 now stood at only a million and a-lialf tons. Inter-State trade had similarly dwindled. A conference of parties interested, including the Government, is now trying to arrive at a basis of compromise which will enable the industry to he put on a stable footing.
