The Trade Union Congress passed a resolution in 'favour of affiliating with .the pan-Pacific scerctarit, which is allied with Moscow International. The Red section regarded Congress’ action as a triumph in tactics, wherein Garden is the central figure.

Ronald Griggs, an erstwhile Omce parson, and recently acquitted of wife murder, has turned up in South Australia where, under a false name, lie secured a probationary position in the Presbyterian Church, and resided with a former soldier chum, whom he met on the French battlefields. The church learned Grigg’s true name, a ( nd pile appointment was suddenly terminated. Griggs has now gono to Westbrn Australia. !
CANADA AND JAPAN. OTTAWA, July 20. Premier King announced the Japanese Legation at Ottawa will be officially opened on Friday. Slmh Tomio ex-Consul-Goneral at Ottawa will be the first secretary, pending the appointment of a Minister plenipotentiary. It is unlikely a Canadian Legation at Tokio will lie opened before the autumn.
MEXICO MOURNING. VANCOUVER, July 20. A message from Mexico City states a special session of Congress will be held on July 30th when extraordinary legislation will he presented to continue President Calles in office. The nation’s mourning will start tomorrow with Obregon’s funeral, and will continue for nine days. The Government is leaving no stone unturned to impress the seriousness of the event upon native Mexicans and outsiders everywhere. Memorial services nre being held at, Washington, San Francisco and Vancouver, to coincido with the hour of Obregon’s funeral. General Antonio Zertuelie, who has been installed ns special chief of police to investigate the killing, announced that responsibility for the crime rests with the Catholic clergy. He intends not only to execute the murderer, but some ‘‘jointly and intellectually responsible.”
