RUSSIAN WHEAT PURCHASES. (Received this day at 9.30 a.m). VANCOUVER, July 18. A message from Winnipeg states Russia has purchased a million and a half bushels of Canadian wheat during the last twenty-four hours, bringing the total purchase for a fortnight to nine and a half million bushels. The demands of other European countries remain indifferent. The Russian purchases were for cash. RUM RUNNERS PATROL. WASHINGTON, July 18. A message from Miami, Florida, states the termination of the agreement under which United States guard boats have been allowed to patrol the waters of British possessions off Florida for -rum runners, became known to-day through „ State Department letter on record in the Federal Court.
WASHINGTON, July 18. Mr Kellogg has apologised to Britain for the violation of the Bahamas agreement and has promised to remit the bail and dismiss the prosecution o: six men, who have been arrested. The court has returned to the owners, two liquor-laden boats seized in "West Indian waters. Hereafter an American coastguard must remain five miles off the Bahaman shores, having lost the special privilege of entering British waters to observe rum runners. CANADIAN NOTE. OTTAWA, July 18. The Canadian note accepting the proposals of the United States multilateral tr6aty outlawing war, is in the hands of the American Minister who announced to-day it would he published on Friday.
