“ALIAS THE DEACON.” FRIDAY.
The longest prize-fight on record took place at Universal City during the making of “Alias the Deacon,” the picture starring Jean Hershoß which will be shown at the Princess Theatre to-morrow (Friday) night. Sporting writers may sing of the lengthy and gory battles of John L. Sullivan, Jem Mace and Jake Kilrain, but Ralph Graves And Tom Kennedy fought for three days all for the scenes in “Alias tho Deacon.” Re net alarmed, however, for all this will not appear in the picture. Edward .Sloman, who directed “Alias the Deacon,” was determined to have the fight realistic and convincing, and Tie filmed each individual clash of the combatants many times. “Alias the Deacon” is a picturisation of the highly popular stage play of the same name which enjoyed such successful engagements in virtually all of the large cities of the land. It was written by John B. Hymcr, and adapted to the screen by Charles Kenyon. June Marlowe plays tho ingenue lead opposite Graves, with Myrtle Stedman, Lincoln Plummer, Ned Sparks, Maurice Murphy and others in the cast.
