FOOTBALL.

A FOOTBALL GRIEVANCE

(By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) PALAIERSTON N., July 18.

At a meeting of the Alnnawatn Football Association a letter was received from the St. Andrew’s Club, the Alanawatu contenders for the Chatham Cup, drawing attention to the alleged dilatoriness on the part of the New Zealand Council in notifying the Hawke’s Bay Association of the date of the Chatham Cun tie between the writers and Hasting s United. Hawke’s Bay Association had only -been notified on July stli that the game was to be played on the 14th < and had very little time to make arrangements. It was also ajlcged that the tie could have been quite easily arranged on the 7tli, when the Hawke s Bo> Rugbv Union would have been u to lend their ground, this showing the indifference of the parent body to the minor associations. The tune is coming, the letter added, and will not bo too soon, when the minor Associations will be compelled to form . Association to protect themselves. 1 ne parent Association, when that comes to pass, will awaken to the fact that there are clubs and Associations outside the four big centres who have to be considered soon, and not at some future time. , After a brief discussion it was decided to forward the letter to the x ei\ Zealand Council.
