/Received this dny at 11.25 a.m.) MEXICO CITY, July 17. Obregon’s assassination occurred this afternoon at a banquet in a restaurant near Mexico City. He was shot live times through the body. The assassin, who is known only as .hum has been imprisoned. President Calles hastened to the scene at the town of Snnangel, twelve miles south of Mexico City. Obregon, who was elected on July Ist was greeted on Sunday at one of tl K ,’ greatest political demonstrations in Mexican history on his return from his Sonora home. The assassination threw the City into the utmost turmoil. It is speculated that President Calles may retain office.
