The Sub-Union met at 8 p.m. Present: Messrs 11. M. Couls-on (Chairman), Dowell, Aleore, McGregor, McMannaway, Cooper, McDonald, Stafford 1 , J. Coulson, Williams, Breeze an<| Heenan.

From West Coast Rugby Union jin reference to junior match.—Received. From Referee McManaway, report on Ross-Arahura match.—Received.

From Rector D.H. School asking for use of No 1 ground for Newman Shield game on Saturday, June 21st. and for appointment of a referee.—Received. It was resolved to accede to the request, the junior game to be played on No 2- ground. , It was resolved tliat tho junior fixtures as set down for July 21st. he played and that tho W.C.R.U. be asked to play the junior representative! game on July 28th. at Hokitika. From Kokatalii Club in reference to appointment of a referee.—Received.

From D. W. Williamson withdrawing his services as referee.—Received. It was resolved to forward a letter appreciative of past services, and to ask for reconsideration of his written decision. From Pirate Club, Burnett’s Face asking for a match to bo arranged with Excelsior Club, weight Bst. 711>.—Received ; to he handed on to Excelsior Club.

FIXTURES FOR SATURDAY. JUNIOR Arahura v. Excelsiors at Arahura (Mr A. E. Perry). ,Kokathi v. Ross at Ross (Air A. Cutbush). } Kiwi v. Rinm at Hokitika at 3 p.m. (Air H. MeATanaway). NEWMAN SHIELD AfATCH. Hokitika School v. Groymouth Technical School, No 1 ground at 2.33 p.m. (Air E. AY. Heenan). ■ SATURDAY’S FRACAS. Air A. Sunnier, referee in the Ex-celsior-Rimu Junior match on Saturday on Cass Square, reported having ordered off J. Griffiths, J. Butland, A. Are Donald, J. Comport, C. Glass and AT. Hagar. Wt;; In a verbal statement the referee stated that Comport and Glass stated they would wait for him on the line. AfcDonald and Hagar were fighting. Griffiths for scragging Stopforth was ordered off,- when Griffiths seized the referee’s whistle from him. Butland and Comport were scragging each other. The referee did not order the players to attend tho meeting. Four members of the Union present gave tho Committee their version of the affair. It was resolved, after discussion, to deal with tho players forthwith. It was resolved that J. Butland and J. Comport stand down for ono playing Saturday. It was resolved that C. Glass for striking a player, stand down for one calendar month. It was resolved that- Af. Hagar and A. AfcDonald stand down for one calendar month. It was resolved that J. Griffiths, for assaulting the referee, be disqualified for life.

GENERAL. It was resolved that referees be asked when refereeing to wear different colours to those of tin, two teams. It was resolved that referees be requested to adhere to the rules as to ordering off of'players, who must be notified to attend the- following meeting of the Sub-Union. Tt was resolved that a deputation from the Sub-Union wait on flic West Coast Rugby Union at Groymouth on Tuesday, July 24tli. It was resolved to ask ATr ATcCleary to take in hand the training of the Hokitika members of the representative team.

The following is the railway team to play Arahura on Sunday:—Wilson. King, Schroder, Schroder, Anderson (vicc-capt.), Sutherland, Dale, Garlick (captain), Hughes, Cuttanee, Colville. Hone, Miller, J. Henham, Israelson, Zoe Henham. Team leaves Newmans at 1.30 sharp.

CANTERBURY v. WA IRA BAP A

CHRISTCHURCH, July 17. Kirkland will be the emergency hooker for Canterbury to-morrow. The team is therefore the same as that which defeated South Canterbury, except that Doreen replaces Hart on the wing.
