THE WRONG DRUG

PARIS, May 30. An error of a Paris firm of chemical specialists which led, it is alleged, to the deatlt* of lime. Koenig, the wife of a well-known Paris doctor and sister-in-law of Senhor Dr. P. R. de Oliviera, the Brazilian Ambassador in London is to be the subject of an inquiry. Tt is stated that Mme. Koenig, who was suffering from a slight affection of the throat, had been ordered to take caches containing hypophysine. This drug was ordered from a firm of specialists and was received by Mme. Koenig as she was about to leave for -Milan.

She took several cachets during the train journey, and on her arrival in Italy was found to he seriously ill. She died the same night. The cachets were examined and found to be made of thyroidine and not hypophysine. Thyroidine has a very bad effect on the heart, especially when taken in large doses.
