SYDNEY, July 14
Mr F. Tout, President of the Graziers’ Association, if of tho opinion that there is no foundation for the suggestion by tho President of the British Wool Federation at Bradford that the world’s consumption of wool is steadily declining. On the contrary, there is a tendency of gradual improvement. it is not unusual this time of the year, he added, for statements to emanate from Bradford which tend to depress wool prices. The total value ot Commonwealth wool sales during the 1927-1928 season amounted to over sixty qnd a-half millions sterling, which is a record by over five millions sterling.
CAPSIZE OF THE “WHITE! BAY.”
SOLE SURVIVOR’S STORY,
SYDNEY, July 15
At tho inquest on tho body of an Italian seaman, which was washed ashore at Newcastle from tho wreck of tho ship “White Bay,” the Italian seaman Ricupero, who was the sole survivor, gave evidence that when the captain found that he was unable to make Newcastle, he fired rockets. They saw a boat come out from Newcastle, but the “White Bay” had then blown further north, and the vessel was unable to give any assistance. The White Bay was ' blown still further north, and as it neared Stockton Beach, the captain called the firemen out of the hold, and instructed the crew to don lifebelts. As they wore doing so, a great sea struck the ship, and she turned over. When witness camo to the surface he saw the White Bay keel upwards at a distance of twenty-fiv© fathoms from the shoxe. There was no sign of the captain or tho crew. ‘ Tho witness swam ashore. The verdict was that deceased were drowned through shipwreck, the Coroner adding that everything humanly possible was done to succour the White Bay, but it was impossible.

ACQUITTED. BRISBANE, July 16. Eileen Wall was acquitted. Cheers were given outside the court. The girl’s employers admitted the handwrit ing in the falsified bankbook was not Miss Wall’s. SCHOONER WRECKED.
SUVA, July 16
Tlie schooner, Malaya, owned by the Fiji Shipping Coy., a former British yacht, was wrecked; on Horse Shoe Reef, Koro, Sea of Fiji, on Saturday night. She is a total loss.
