GISBORNE, J«ly 11Advice from Sydney states the in- . , jury to Walter Caddum, a passenger the aeroplane which crashed, consists of a fractured knee cap. His condition is satisfactory. The pilot was John Rookledge, aged 28, no eonneo ' tion with Rutlege, to whom Gaddum had letters of introduction. The’plane ■ was returning to Mascot aerodrome-, after a flight when it got out of control and noso dived at Bourko Street, Auburn. The ’plane turned over and ; was badly smashed, the tail being _ caught in a fence. No one can explain how the accident happened. The ’plane was a new one and the pilot very capable. Rookledge is believe to have sustained a fractured skull. The condition of both patients was reported to bo slightly better yesterday. Both are suffering from shock in adejition to other injuries.
