MAROONED MEN DESPONDENT

LONDON, July 10,

A British United Press message from Virgo Bay states that despair is forcing the Viglieri group into <i black suicidal mood.

Atmospheric disturbances have made communication with Viglieri impossible for two days: The last message from Biaggi, the wireless operator, said: — “Marooned men are losing courage and are becoming increasingly despondent. Urge you rush help. Discouragement is due to fact rescue is so near and yet so far, causing marooned men jto become embittered. We are haggard and unkempt. The canvas tent affords poorest protection.” Lundhorg states there is a constant fight against temptation to leave the camp and try to reach the coast, which is seen tantalisingly clearly silhouetted against the southern sky. Such a march, however, would be tantamount to suicide. OSLO, July 9. The Brazanza has departed northward to search for the Viglieri party. It hopes to reach the men before the end of the month. GERMANY’S NEW AIRSHIPBERLIN, July 9. News from Friedericlishafen states that Germany’s new airship L.Z. 127, with which it is hoped to forestall Britain’s RIOO in the trans-Atlantic flight,) was to-day christened Zeppelin by his daughter, in honour of tlie Count's ninetieth birthday anniversary. Plans are being considered for L.Z. 127 to make a world flight in 1929.
