WESTLAND HOSPITAL BOARD
MONDAY, JULY 9th,
The Board met at 8 p.m. Present— Messrs J. J. Breeze* (Chairman), G. Davidson, -E. A. Wells, (R. McMillan. W. Jeffries, T. W. Duff, M. Keenan! Apologies for absence were made for Messrs Spiers and Morel. The minutes were confirmed and outward correspondence approved. INWARD CORRESPONDENCE. From Hospital Department, 'Wellington, in reference to returns; enclosing plans for septic tank, etc., for nursing home.—Received and laid on table. From same in reference to annual subsidy on levy.—Received. From Hospital Boards Association in reference to opinion on case of Board in maintenance claim.—Received. Mr Jeffries moved in accordance therewith that a sub-committee consisting of town members be appointed to take the necessary action.—Seconded by Mr Keenan and carried. From District Health Officer, Christchurch, enquiry as to subsidy payments.—Received.
From Hokitika Borough Council in reference to lease of Borough reserve. —Received and agreed to on terms offered.
From Kumara Borough Council forwarding levy for July.—Received.
From Grey Hospital Board notifying the Timber Workers Union had agreed to the proposal to pay £1 per annum for free treatment at hospitals of members and their families.— Received; the Secretary to obtain definite information as to the actual payments that will come to the Board.
From Kumara Medical Association asking for particulars of the terms granted for attendance to the Timber Workers’ Union.—Received ; the Secretary to reply. i From Miss L. Scott, resigning position as wardsmaid.—Received and accepted. From Kumara Medical Committee forwarding £75 contributions.—Received.
From R. ltitchie, Bruce Bay, enquiry as to payments towards conveyance of persons requiring medical attendance.—Received; the Secretary to reply. From Oddfellows Ixidge, Kunmra, and Hibernian T.odge. Hokitika, returning returns of members.—Received. It was ..resolved to ask tbe local Druids Lodge to supply a list of members. ■'
From Thomas Woodburn expressing thanks for attention given.—Received. REPORTS.
From Medical Superintendent reporting on Ist June there were 41 patients in hospital. Admitted during June 16 mnles. 2t> females —36— total treated 39 males, 38 females—77: discharged cured 15 males. 17 females; relieved I,female; died 1 male, 2 females; total discharged 16 males, 20 females—36; remaining in hospital on 30th June 23 males, 18 females—4l; in hospital for two months 12 males, 6 females—lß.—Received. s The House Committee reported conditions satisfactory at the hospital; recommending some requirements.—Received and approved. Accounts amounting to £4ll 6s 3d were passed for payment. The Treasurer reported:—Receipts £662 Is 3d, payments £763 9s fid, bank debit balance £2B 6s lCd.—Received.
It was suggested that tbe annual hospital ball bo held on September 5. Tlio next meeting was fixed for August 13th. The Board rose at 9.15 p.m.
