“SKY HIGH SAUNDERS, TO-NIGHT.
For the first time since his debut on the silver sheet, A 1 Wilson, the screen’s greatest trick and stunt aviator, has opportunity to display to the utmost his ability and nerve as an air acrobat in “Sky High Saunders,” a Universal Western aerial melodrama showing here at the Princess Theatre to-night. Al, literally, “flew” to the top as an aviator. His early education was directed toward a career in the business world, hut after a few hectic months iii the office he discovered lie was on the wrong tangent and, being mechanically inclined, acquired an apprenticeship in a machine shop. His skill with tools and efficiency around motors soon landed him a position with an aviation school where lie became possessed with an innate desire to become an aviator. It was not long before Al had acquired sufficient knowledge of planes to pass an aviator’s examination and ho was granted a license to open an aviation school in Los Angeles. He conducted his instruction academy for six years when the world war broke out, and lie was stationed by tho government at Kelly Field, Texas, as an avia'tion instructor for army recruits. After the Armistice, Al started trick and stunt flying ns a profession, performing at state and county fairs and carnivals throughout the country. His death defying escapades soon brought him to the attenjon of motion picture directors and lie was given an opportunity to play minor parts in several air films. He was soon cast in leading rolls, and will be remembered for his work in “The Air Hawk.” “The Cloud Rider,” and “Flying Through.” Ho has been recently signed by Universal Pictuics Corporation to do a, series of four mclo-dramatic air films, “Sky High Saunders” being the first, under the supervision of 'William Lord A\ light and the direction of Bruce Mitchell. The first chapters of the new serial, starring Jack Dougherty, “The Fire Fighters,” will also he shown on Friday, together with a two-reel comedy.
