Deceased was among the half-dozen richest men in Britain, and was stated to be worth eleven millions. He lived in comparative obscurity, and had simple tastes.

The Bolshevik Government’s extensive wheat buying in the world’s grain markets the last few days indicates the fears of a serious scarcity of food in Russia. . .
It is estimated that it bought between 150,000 and 200,000 tons, representing alK>ut two and a-half millions sterling. Beyond the fact that tho grain was sold for cash, the dealers profess not to know precisely how the payments are being provided. No credit is being given.
