WELLINGTON, July 4 THE COUNCIL.
The Legislative Council met at 2.30 p.m.
. A motion that a respectful address he presented to His Excellency the Governor-General iii reply to His Excellency's s|>eech, was moved by Sir Robert Stout and was seconded by lion. Witty. The only other speaker was Sir J. R. Sinclair and the debate was adjourned on the motion of Hon. Triggs till 2.30 p.m. to-morrow. THE HOUSE. Tile House met at 2.30 p.m. Three local Bill were introduced and read a first time, after the formal business. The House at 2.55 adjourned till 7.30, when the debate on the Address-in-Reply was to he eommenc°'L . . . | At tlie evening sitting Air AA aite (Clutha) moved and All* Bell (Bay of Islands) seconded a motion that a respectful address be presented to His Excellency the Governor-General in reply to His Excellency’s speech. At the conclusion of their speeches, the debate was adjourned, on the motion of the Leader of the Opposition and at 9.30 p.m. the House rose till 2.30 p.m. to-morrow.
