AGAINST SUPER-TAX. ■ LONDON, July 3
In the Commons the Finance Bill debate created an exciting situation, and the most formidable revolt of the Conservatives during the present Parilament.
Sir IT. Buckingham moved to delete the provision that tlie estate of a deceased super taxpayer should be charged for the last lull year- of his life, contending that this would entail paymen of a double tax for the year, and the Treasury would unjustly gain a million a year.
Sir R. Hoare, Sir John Marriott an Col. John G ret ton joined in the protest. The Labourites did /..not participate, but interrupted, and jeered at the pleas for super tax payers. Sir H. Buckingham pressed the motion for a, division, but it was defeated by 200 to 59, the Labourites and Liberals not voting.
