GUNBAR HELD UP.
AUCKLAND, July 4,
The small steamer Gunbar was unable to sail for Gisborne and Napier until 7 o’clock to-niglit. The seaman who refused to sign articles on reengagement, after being dismissed on the ground of insubordination, was again dismissed. He was- supported by the crew, who refused to take the vessel to sea if a substitute were engaged. The men’s action was taken against the wishes of the Union officials, and the crew were informed that if they continued to refuse to take the vessel to sea, they would all be dismissed. Eventually the men were persuaded to consent to a substitute being engaged, and resumed duty.
