(By 1 Arenee.’) In tlic Gun Shout organised by the Hfirihnri Gun Club last week-end, Mr Jack Searle was the? successful competitor for the prize offered by Messrs Hammond and Turner, Christchurch. Rev. A. C. Whitdaw. L.L.8., Secretary of the Young Men’s Bible Class (Presbyterian Church) is visiting this district this week and will conduct services at Harihari and AAataroa oil Tuesday, AVailio Gorge on AVcdnesday, and AVaitaha and Boss on Thursday.

Repair work’ has been commenced on the' police station which mysteriously caught fire one night some few months ago, the building being empty at the time.

The special jiieture “Ben-Hur” which was screened here on Monday night last, brought a very large house, extra forms etc. having to be commandeered to find seating accc.mmcdation for the public, a large percentage of whom came frotrf surrounding townships. Friends of Mr A. Gardiner of Evans Creek, will be glad to know that be is progressing very favourably after bis operation in the AVestland Hospital last week.

The schools Basket Rail Club and Football Club held a' dance in the Totara Hall, Sturday night last, there being quite a large attendance, the function being a very successful one. Ross plays Arahura at Arnliura on Saturday next, July 7th. ' AVaitaha beat Harihari last Saturday by 8-—3.
