Obituary.—Charles William Oakes, -M.L.C., aged 68, a member of Fuller’s Ministry and a former Commonwealth parliamentarian and a universally popular official. MEDICAL REPORT. SYDNEY, July 4. In a medical inspection of 3,645 children attending Cessnoek school, 62 were found to be suffering from malnutrition, 21 of which was due to distress in the coalfields. SEARCHING FOR CLUE. (Received this day at 9.3 P a.m.) SYDNEY, July 4. Detectives searching the confectionery shop where the double murder was committed during the week-end unearthed money hidden in many parts of the building, chiefly in crevices. It was also ascertained that the dead woman had bank deposits amounting to £2300, but one bank hook is missing. A neighbour informed the police that Fnlvey told him some time ago that a certain person owed her money and had dispute over it. Detectives are handicapped by the fact that nobody saw the crime committed or detected the number of the murderer’s motor cycle, hut it is believed lie is acquainted with the locality.
CAR COLLISION. SYDNEY. July 4. A car collision occurred at Randwiek Four actors and one actress from the Theatre Royal were injured. Ben Lewin has a fractured skull, Leon Gordon, John Darcy, and James Patterson each head injuries and shock, and May Collins (actress) abrasions and shock.
