EDUCATION RESERVES, HARIHARI
’With reference to the leasing of the above reserves in the Inter-Wanganui District, Mr Seddon M.P., received the following explanatory letter from the Hon. Minister of Lands :
“Referring again to your letter of the 9th May, advising me that the question of sub-dividing the above Education Reserves Is arousing a good deal of xjuhlic attention, arid that a decision to subdivide them would give general satisfaction; 1 have to inform you that after giving very careful consideration to the representations made in this respect, it is regretted that the circumstances are such as to render this course inadvisable. “ In the event of the reserves being subdivided, the subdivisions would, of course, have to bear their proportionate cost of survey, loading, compensation for improvements, etc., and it is very questionable whether they could be profitably occupied at rents based on. the value of the land, plus these charges. “ A new lease.of each of the two reserves will be offered by public auction at a suitable date to be fixed, after the Ist May next, when any person desir-
