It is a general conviction in Republican circles that in the nomination of Smith the Democrats have selected the likeliest candidate.

Air Hoover refrained from making oamnrent. However, the Secretary of the Interior, Air Work, who is shortly to submit his resignation to Afr Coolidge at While House, and thereafter will assume a more active role in the Hoover campaign. He declared that Smith was unquestionably tile strongest Democrat in the country, and it would be a hard battle. Air Work and other Republican leaders nevertheless expressed the opinion that a combination of Hoover and Curtis would prove too strong for any combination the Democrats would lie able to offer.
