FARMERS’ UNION
ADVISORY COMMITTEE
WELLINGTON, June 27
The Advisory Committee of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union met to-day, the president, Air W. J. Poison, in the chair.
The committee supported and passed as resolutions the following remits:
“That this conference strongly recommends to the Government that it lie made compulsory that all dairy cattle he periodically examined and tested for T.B. bv officers of the Stock Division, and when offered for sale, to be accompanied by a .tubercular test certificate, and that for wrongly condemned cattle full compensation bo paid. “That this conference is of opinion that a veterinary course should he instituted at the Massey Agricultural College for the benefit of stock inspectors. “That this conference urges the setting up of a committee to make full investigations into the reasons why the price of fertilisers is so much dearer in the South Island as against the price charged in the
“That the Government be requested to amend the Land Act- so as to allow of the appointment of two representatives of Crown land tenants to the land boards, also that the various land districts be divided into two wards, one representative to be elected to each ward.
“That, as the cash on delivery system confers a great benefit to farmers it is hoped that the Government will not, under pressure discontinue this system, but extend it through New Zeauand.”
