EVERYBQDYS PICTURES. ‘•THE LONE WOLF RETURNS.” FRIDAY. One of the fastest adventure melodramas of the season ‘‘The Lone Wolf Returns,” a Master Picture, is showing at the Princess Theatre on Friday. Tho story which is an adaptation by Columbia Pictures of the famous Louis Joseph Vance novel, treats of the reformation of the master crook. Michael Lanyard, through an accidental meeting with Marcia Mayfair, a New York society girl, whilo he loiters behind portieres in her boudoir in an effort, to evade the authorities. It will be remembered that Bert Lytell created tlie character of the ‘‘Lone Wolf” for the screen several years ago, a circumstance that resulted in an cspeially fine interpretation of the role in the current production. No truer portrayal of this difficult character could possibly be given than that outlined by Mr Lytell in ‘‘The Lone Wolf Returns.” The element of mystery, the spirit of adventure, tho romantic and, in fact, picturesque qualities of the story are grippingly projected in Columbia's master production of a great author's work. Billio Dove is charming as Mar eia Malfair.. She possesses the wholesome quality oF personality required ,by the part, and dresses it with a richness of fabric and a smartness that pleases tho feminine element of the audience. Gwen Lee can also bo complimented on the clothes she wears and the manner in which she- wears them, as well as for her talented performance of the role of Inane Delorme, associate of Mornhew and Mallison, arch enemies of the man who persisted in cutting loose from the profession and going straight. Gustav von SeyIfertitz, as Mornhew, Alphonz FAhier Decteeti vo Crane, and Freeman Wnod as Mallinson, give performances of a quality that malco their presence in tho cast essential to the best interests of the production.
