“SWEET ROSIE O’GRADY ” —TO-NIGHT.
In casting for the production o
“ Sweet Rosie O’Grady,” a Maste i'icture release, based on the ivistin , old song by Maude Nugent, fine char nctcmation was recognised as an cssen tial in every role. Accordingly, the players were selected individually ant: 1 the results, according to advance notices from New York, were extraordinarily happy. With Shirley .Wason in the title role, selected by Maude Nugent as the most perfect typo for the part in motion pictures, the balance of the cast was chosen with particular care. .Cullen Landis, as - the aristocratic youth from Park Avenue, is skilled in this type of acting. K. lilyn Warren, an Irishman noted for his portrayal of Jewish characters, appears as old Undo Ben Shapiro, the whimsical Second Avenue pawnbroker. Otto Ledcrer and Lester Bernard are the comedy performers, both known for their skill. William Conklin, the supreme screen policeman, presents .Patrolman James Brady, of the Bowery. Little Jackie Combs appears as I the waif. In each choice the player was selected from a list of applicants because of special qualifications for a particular part. The picture will be shown at the Princess Theatre this evening. Shirley Mason, featured in “Sweet Rosie O’Grady,” a Master Picture, to bo shown to-night at the Princess Theatre, is the sister of Viola. Dana and Edna Flugrath. Flugrath is the family name. Shirley Mason made her first appearanco as a boy in “Treasure Island” for Famous Players under the direction of George Fitzmauricc. She was signed by Fox on the strength of her work in this picture. She made a decided hit in “ Her Elephant Man,” her first starving vehicle for. Fox and she co-starred with Buck Jones in “The Eleventh Hour.” Miss Mason lias a record of over 20 pictures for Fox before entering the free-lance field. She is one of the smallest screen stars, measuring four feet eleven inches. She was married to Bernard Darning director, deceased, and has never rc-married. A topical and comedy will also be shown to-night. On Friday next Bert Lytcll and Billie Dove will he seen in “The Lone Wolf Returns.”
