ROSS NEWS.

A dance in aid of the Ross Cricket Club was held here on Saturday evening and was a great sucess. Excellent music was supplied by Miss Evans and the duties of M.C. were capably carried out by Mr R, Richards. Extremely cold weather has been experienced in this district these last few weeks, heavy snow falling on tho adjacent hills.
Mr T. E. Y. Seddon, 51. P., prior to leaving for Wellington, is on a visit to South Westland. Miss L. Linstrom, of the City Hotel, Ross, spent the week-end in Hokitika.
FOOTBALL. Hariliari “old boys” played the “young bucks” at Haribari during the week-end, the Old Boys being victorious, the game resulting in Id to 13. A match was played during the week-end at Matainui between the roadmen at Waitangi and Matainui, the latter winning by 17 to 0. A Gun Club shoot will be held at Haribari next week-end for a trophy presented by Messrs Hammond and Turner.
