Amending regulations under tlie Meat Kxport Control Act have been gazetted. The clause relating to the eligibility of candidates for election to the Control Board has been revoked, and a new clause substituted. It provides that a candidate for election to the Board shall not he eligible for nomination as a delegate; that a delegate must he nominated by a sheep farmer, and his nomination seconded by another sheep farmer : and that no person may accept nomination as a delegate for more than one electoral district.

A lady visitor to Christchurch, -Mrs A.K. Hunt, of Timaru, on Friday evening lind an exciting experience. Looking at the display in a drapery shop window, she saw a young woman approach and felt a tug at her handhag. She thought that somebody had accidently humped into her. Glancing round, she saw the woman going away quickly. She then found that her handbag had disappeared. Mrs Hunt and her sister-in-law, tried to overtake the stranger, hut did not succeed. The woman has not been discovered, and the handbag, and its contents, including £4 and some papers, are missing.

The fame of “Beil Ilur” bad been l heralded as a picture not to be missed, and its appearance at the Princess Theatre yesterday afternoon and evening: attracted record attendances. Last night every available seat was filled and the bombings tor to-night’s presentation are also of record proportions. The addition of the Greymouth picture orchestra, was also an added attraction, the fine musical accompaniments being a treat that those present thoroughly enjoyed. Mr Tom Clarke’s solo to the prologue was also loudly applauded. The picture itself fully bore out the enconiums so often passed on it, and the large audience appreciated to the full the very fine representation of this world famous theme. The outstanding features of the galleys with their tiers of slave rowers, the light that followed, with the burning of the ships, and the chariot race so wonderfully presented, were scenes not to be forgotten. Altogether it was a fine picture well presented, and added to by a dainty musical accompaniment, the whole giving great satisfaction and pleasure to the large audience. The picture is being repeated to-night for the last time and the opportunity should not be missed.
