A' CUSTOMS AFFAIR, WELLINGTON, June 23. A statement recently appeared in the press that a British firm had suggested to a Dunedin business man an ingenious method by which customs authorities could be defrauded, by understating the Value of goods imported on the cash on delivery basis. Investigating the matter Lamb'ie (British Deputy . Trade Commissioner) has-ascertained that the document in question was an unsigned, printed circular from ah Indian firm and that the occurrence does not therefore reflect adversely upon the high standard of commercial morality maintained by British manufacturers and exporters.
