ROSS NEWS.

A wedding which created considerable interest in Ross took place at 11.30 last Wednesday morning, the contracting parties being Miss Irene .Goad, younger daughter of Mr and Mrs W. Goad, of Aylmer Street, Ross, and Robert Howden, of Riverton, Invercargill. Tito wedding was solemnised at St. Patrick’s ’ Church, the Rev. Father O’Dolierty performing the ceremony. The bride, who was given away by her father was charmingly at* tired in a dainty frock of fine silver lace over white georgette and coral pink charmeiise. Her beautiful veil of shell pink and white tulle was arranged with silver mob cap and orange blossoms and she carried a loveiy bouquet.

The bride was attended by' two bridesmaids. Miss M. O’Byrne (cousin of the bride) was attired in an embroidered frock of primrose georgette with head-gear of tulle and roses to match. Miss Amy Goad (sister of the bride) was attired in a pink crepe-de-cliine frock with hat and shoes to match. They each carried early Victorian posies of pink and white chrysanthemums and maiden hair fern and streamers. M.r John Houlahau filled the role of best man. The church was tastefully decorated by the lady friends of the bride. Mrs J. P. Hansbury presided, at the organ. After the wedding cenemony the bride’s parents entertained a number of guests at the wedding breakfast at their home and at which Rev. Father O’Doherty presided. The usual toasts were proposed and responded to with musical honours. The bride’s mother, who received tlie guests was attired in a smart frock of black crepe-de-chine rel-evcd with fawn lace. Tlie bride who was extremely popular was the recipient of a large number of useful presents, including several cheques. The happy couple left in the afternoon " per motor en. route for Christchurch, tlieir future home.
