There was another Rood attendance at the Soldiers’ Hall last evening for the weekly euchre assembly. The wedding of Mr David Cowan, youngest son of Mrs and the late Mr James Cowan, Greyinouth, and Miss Annie Cecilia, second daughter of Mrs and the late Mr John McKeegan, of Threadneedle Street, was solemnised at the residence of the bride’s mother yesterday, Rev. Father Holahan officiating. The bride was attired in primrose blue georgette, and wore a black crinoline hat. She was attended by her sister, Miss Lucy McKeegan, who was dressed in apricot georgette, with hat to match. The best man was'Mr Peter McEnanev. After tbe ceremony, the happy couple left for Aknroa, the bride travelling in a costume of dark fawn repp, with hat to match.

The Supreintendent of the Greymouth Fire Brigade (Mr T. Clarke) last evening tendered his resignation to the Fire Board owing to ill-health. A deputation consisting of four officers of the brigade waited upon the Board and urged them to endeavour to have Mr Clarke reconsider his decision' to resign. Sincere reference was made by the deputation to the sterling qualities of their Superintendent, and his undoubted ability, and keen interest in the welfare of the brigade and its members. They asked that the Board endeavour to grant Mr Clarke a period of sick leave, stating that it was the unanimous decision of tlfe members that they could not let him resign. The Chairman (Mr J. Steer) later requested the Superintendent to reconsider his resignation, and moved that he be granted three months’ absence on sick leave. After hearing Mr plarke, who stated that he would now re-consider his decision, the motion of the Chairman was passed unanimously. A quiet but pretty wedding was celebrated yesterday morning at • All Saints’ Church, Hokitika, when Ella Catherine, third daughter of Mrs J. Marshall, of Christchurch, was married to James MacMillan, second son of Mr J. Mann, of Brick Street, Greymouth. The Rev. H. Nelson Wright was the officiating minister.
