Following upon tlie cooks’ refusal to sign on for the Iluddart Parker steamer “Ba'rwoiu,” tlie shipowners have suspended the picking up of crews for all of their ships. /’ WOOL SALES SYDNEY. June 20. Tlie clearing up 1927-28 wool sales have concluded. Good clearances were effected, competition being keen for all descriptions. Late rates were well maintained. DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION. ' SYDNEY, June 20. The Development and Migration Commission presented an exhaustive report to the Federal Ministry covering unemployment, recommending the State Governments to adopt a common policy for planning public works well ahead over a term of years; to adopt a uniform system of employment bureaus; to arrange with educational authorities for the extension of vocational training for youths after leavng school; stabilisation of exchange; to provide facilities for training of-ibusiness and industrial executives in -problems of seasonal fluctuations, industrial organisation and management. COOKS TROUBLE. (SYDNEY, June 20. Mr Tudeliope states he does not anticipate serious trouble. He has despatched a telegram to the shipownerst at Melbourne pointing out the terms of settlement for the cooks strike_rpiovided for picking up places at union rooms; further there was a strong feeling against the Barwon which arrived at Sydney without cooks. He was confident another call for cooks made to-day would be successful. He added that hitches are JL bound to occur. These will disappear with a better understanding. Waling has tendered bis resignation to the Civil Commission as from June Ist.
