Tub forces pro and con in regard to the renewal of the daylight saving measure this year are busy. A large majority of the medical men in New Zealand approve of daylight saving, and recommend that the Summer Time Act be re-enacted. At tho annual conference of the New Zealand branch of the British Aledical Association, at Hamilton in February last, a letter was received from Mr T. K. Sidey, ALP., asking for an expression ol opinion as to the effect of summer time upon the health of the community, with particular reference to the 'health <yf women and children. The question was referred to the several divisions of the branch, with a request that they should each take a referendum on the subject, and the replies were considered at a meeting of the council of the British Aledical Association last week. Sir Donald AlcGavin, who presided, said that some of the members were of opinion that the period during which the Act had been in operation was too short to enable a definite statement to ho made sis.to its effect on the health of tho community, hut it might fairly he assumed in these cases that on general grounds the opinion was favourable to summer time. The council agreed to inform Air Sidey that the large majority of the of the medical men favoured the summer tinie.
