FRENCH CYCLING RACE. Australian Service PARIS, June 17. Opperman, the Australian cyclist, finished the first stage from Paris to Coen a distance of 207 kilometres, of the Tour Dc France cycle race in nineteenth place. -M. France,, the Australian’s manager, stated that lie was quite pleased with the results, and particularly with Opperman. It is expected that the Australian’s form will improve as the race is continued, hut it is almost impossible to compete adequately without a bigger team. Osborne finished in twenty-fourth
place, and Watson in twenty-fifth placo on the first stage. FRENCH CYCLING. PARIS, June 18. News from Cherbourg" states in a special record lap of the Tour De France, Ledricq was first and Frantz second; time 15,149 seconds. Opperman was twenty-fifth, only twelve minutes behind the winner; time 15,888 seconds. Watson and Osborne were thirtieth and thirty-first; time 10,240 seconds. Bainbridge was forty-first; time 17,400 seconds.
