A Conference of tlie Prime Minister of all the Australian States, the first p Premier’s Conference to sit in Sydney rrt for ten years, has commenced. The main, subjects for discussion are those of migration and unemployment. The Conference will endeavour to formulate a policy on both df these subjects for tlie whole of the Commonwealth. SEA COOKS’ RESUMPTION. " SYDNEY, June 18. f The Marine Cooks continue to return to work, and the shipowners are busy refitting the idle ships. it is anticipated that within a couple of weeks all of the vessels will be recommissioned, and that normal services be resumed. THE NON-UNION CREWS. . MELBOURNE, June 18. At a meeting to-day the shipowners decided to pay off the volunteer crews at tlie same time compensating them by the payment of one month’s pay in addition to the payment for the services given. . COOKS UNION THREAT. L. (Received this day at 9.30 a.m). SYDNEY, June 19. The crew for tlie Uliniaroa will lie engaged to-morrow. The vessel will sail for Wellington on Friday. The Cooks’ Union is trying to circumvent the owners’ right to select labour at the ship’s side and lias decided to im- - pose a fine of three guineas with twelve months’ expulsion, if any member accepts employment outside the Union rooms. WRESTLING VIOLENCE. SYDNEY, June 19. A wrestling match at the Stadium between Hugh Nieliolls and the American countryman Walter Miller, was a violent affair. Nichols lifted his opponent bodily and threw him into tho press enclosure. Miller returned unhurt to the ring and floored Nicholls with a vicious blow to the chin. Tlie latter was declared the winner on a foul. :
