Several free kicks within range went wide and Uniteds had several chances of possible scores, but the finish was not put on and Kiwis managed to keep their lines clear, the game ending in their favour as stated. For Kiwis Macfarlano at full-back gave a very good opening exhibition, while Pfaldert. was the best three-quarter, making some dashing runs that Jamieson always managed to stop. Stevens was brighter than last game, but McCleary had a lot of attention paid him that held him in check. The forwards were working well together and gained possession, heeling out well. The United full-back gave a clean exhibition while Walton and Jenkins shone out. Jamieson was starved in the first half and then went to wing-fortvard, but his pace did not get many chances to The forwards were beaten in the first half, but in the last half hour they held the upper hand and their loose rushes took a lot of stopping.
