Rain interfered with the County cricket matches in several instances.

Middlesex in the first innings made 435 for 3 and declared against Essex. Haig made 63, Hillick 82, Lee 103 and Hcndren 126 not out. Essex in the first made 246 for 5 (Eastman 69, Russell 60). The game drawn. Surrey in the first made 226 against Sussex (Ducat not out 101), Tate taking 5 for 82; and in the second innings made 156, Tate taking 4 for 45, and Gilligan 4 for 46. Sussex in the first made 387 (Wensley 97, H. Parks 59, Langridge 77). Sussex won by an innings and five runs. Yorkshire in the first innings made 179 against West Indies, Griffiths taking 6 for 46. West Indies in the first made 56 for 3. Tho game was drawn. Kent in the first made 519 for 6, and declared against Warwickshire. Hardinge made 205 and Ames 109. Warwickshire in the first made 119, Freeman taking 6 for 51, and ’Woolley 4 for 26. Warwick followed on, and made 106, Woolley taking 6 for 52 and Freeman 4 for 37. Kent won by an innings and 294 runs. Leicestershire in the first innings made 120 against Derbyshire, Slater taking 5 for 29; and in the second innings made 144 for 6 (Armstrong 51). Derbyshire in the first made 224 for 8, and declared (Worthington 121). Derby won on the first innings.

Hampshire in the first made 253 against Notts (Brown 69, Mead not out 89), Larwood talcing 6 for 66; and in the second innings made 116 for 6. Nottinghamshire in the first innings made 387 for 6, and declared (Carr 57, Walker 53, Payton not out 129, Tilley 52, A. Staples 57). Notts won on the first innings.

Lancashire in the first innings made 316 against Gloucestershire (Watson not out 149). Gloucestershire in tho first innings made 120, Iddon taking 5 for 40. Gloucester followed on, and made 167 (Smith 51), Iddon taking 5 5 for GO. Lancashire won by an innings and 29.

Cambridge University in the first innings made 381 for 8, and declared against Northamptonshire, Turnbull scoring 69, Longrigg 51, Seabrook 84, and Longfield 90. Thomas took 4 for 68. Northamptonshire in the first innings made 169 (Liddell 74), Robin taking 4 for 39. They then followed on and made 175 (Walden 60). Cambridge won by an innings and 37'. For Glamorgan against Somersetshire Ryan took 4 for 60, and Mercer 5 for 58. For Somerset, White took 8 for 50, and Cresswell 6 for 49. Glamorgan won.
