The success of the crew of the Southern Cross has thrown into high relief the potentialities of the human spirit, but it still leaves it difficult to appraise the full worth of such an example of intrepid courage and grim tenacity of purpose, or to estimate the spirit that inspired strength to body and reiource to mind.
