The Board of Trade returns for May show imports increased by £3,033,000, exports decreased £4,721,000, and reexports decreased £529,000. The principle increases were:—lmports: Raw cotton £2,189,000, raw wool £2,500,000, Decreases in imports, rubber £1,470,000, exports of coal £907,000, iron, steel and manufactures thereof £2,220,000, eottton, yarns and manufactures thereof £3,523,000.

The International Shipping Conference approved of the Collisions Committee’s recommendation that the words port and starboard should no longer be used in orders to the helm, the words left and light being substituted.

Tlie decline in General Motors from tlie year’s liigli point alone is estimated to have caused a loss of five hundred and fifty millions, and Giannnni Stocks suffered a paper loss of four hundred and seventy-three millions, which is attributed to the sensational drop in Bancka (Italy) stocks since April 30tb.
