BRIBERY INQUIRY. SYDNEY, Juno 12. At the Federal bribery allegation inquiry, Mr W. <5. Malioney denied the allegation that he was offered the sum of £BOOO to vacate his seat in favour of Mr Theodore. Mr Mahoney explained that money which he paid for a. hotel at Balmain was the proceeds of his investments on the Melbourne Cup meeting in 1926, when he won between three and four thousand. He had brought this money from Melbourne in notes, which he hid behind the old Hansards in his bookcase at bis home. He had kept the news of the winnings to himself, because when a Labour man was known to have money “big biters” became very persistent. . NSW STATE LUNCHEON. SYDNEY, June 12.... The streets were lined with cheering crowds...as the party passed along from Queen’s Sqtiare to tho Hotel Australia. • OBITUARY. MELBOURNE, June 13.
