Hie minutes were confirmed and out ward correspondence approved. MOTION' OK SYMPATHY. Mr Jeffries referred to the recent loss sustained, and moved that the Board place on record its deep sympathy with the' President (Mr J. .J. Breeze). Mrs Breeze, and the member.-: oi the family in their recent sad bereavement.—Seconded by Mr Duff ami carried in silence, members standing. inward correspondence. From Hospital Department in reference to reading of the law in regard to liability oi tiie husband or parent for maintenance in tiie hospital.—Received. It was resolved to refer the lull particulars to the Hospital Boards Association with a request that they obtain the Crown Solicitor’s opinion on
the position. From Hospitals Association forward ing the annual balance sheet, lor this year.—Received. From Hospitals Association, circular re duty on X-ray apparatus.-—Rec-eiv ed. From National Provident. Fund, circular dealing with payments.-—Receiv-ed. From Boiler Hospital Board asking for information re district nurse.— Received and supplied. From Grey Hospital Board stating if was not in favour of a reduction of o per cent on proposed subscript inn for collection from timber workers. -

From Kuntilra Borough Council torwarding levy.—Received REPORTS. From Medical Superintendent. Vestland Hospital, reporting patients m hospital on May Ist was 35. Admitted during May, 19 males, 11 females— 3o ; total treated, 40 males, 25 females(3s; discharged cured, 15 males. 7 females—22.' Died. 2 males. Total discharged. 17 males, 7 females—24. Remaining in hospital,' 31st May. 23

Roe*': vea and approved. ( HAI UMAX'S REPORT. In coiljunction wilh Messrs defines and Meharrv we visited South '.testland on May 19th and got as iar as Waiho Gorge. Wataroa and Matamui Westland eoinmiinity a very divided one in tlm matter of their medical requirements. Waiho Gorge decided lor a medical and maternity nurse to he domiciled at Waiho uGrge. Wataroa- and Matainui decided on a doctor to he domiciled at Wataroa. Harihari want neither nurse nor dof-tor and will not subscribe to a doctor resident at Waiho Gorge. Under these circumstances, your committee have no recommendations to make, beyond advising that tenders he invited for lettting .the nurse’s cottage furnished at Y\ aiho Gorge to a married couple. The report was received and adopted. It was resolved to oiler the nurse’s cottage at Waiho for rent. • Accounts amounting to £343 14s fkl were passed for payment. The Finance Committee recommended that as the present arrangements for conveyance of patients were proving s: \tisf.netory the suggestion for the purchase of a new ambulance be deferred and that the ambulance account
he- paid into the general account,—Received and agreed to. The Treasurer reported receipts C 1032 (is 2d; payments £B7-5 13s 2d; bank credit balance £75 Gs Gd. Received. The Hoard rose at 0 p.m.
