HOKITIKA SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The monthly meeting of the Hokitika District High School Committee was held last evening at 7 o’clock. Present: Mr A. Armstrong (Chairman), Mrs Perry, Messrs Pcdder, Collision, Sweney, Richards, Shannon and Conning. An apology was received from Mrs Wilson. WJ’lk? Chairman thanked the members for electing him as Chairman and wished (he committee every success for the coining year. From same ro resignation of Miss Bruce.—Received. From Borough Council re weed growth in Sale Street.—Received. FrCm caretaker stating work done in connection with spreading of gravel. —Received, left to grounds committee to attend to.
Mrs Perry and Mr Shannon reported n visiting the school, stating a few •e]uireiver.ts needed attention. It was -esc-lved to apply to the Board to have ;lie woodwork shop painted and spoutng repaired, also stove pipe attended o and new range in caretaker’s cot-
tage. , The Rector's report was received reporting on the grounds and school, asking the grounds committee to meet to consider spending the balance of the ground funds.— Received. It was resolved to notify owners of dogs trespassing on the grounds that same would be destroyed when found there. Messrs Armstrong, Partridge and Conning were appointed to interview the 'Chairman of the High School Board re grant. It was resolved to hold the annual school fair on Wednesday, Sept. I2tli. It was resolved to ask the Rector to appeal for donations for the coal fund. The dental officer reported on having treated 5S children in April and 91 in May.—Received. Messrs Armstrong and Richards were appointed - visitors for the month. The meeting terminated at 8 o’clock \Htli the usual vote of thanks to the chair.
