OTAGO FARMERS
ITINERARY OF VISIT. During the recent visit of the Most Coast farmers to. Dunedin, it was arranged for a return visit of Otago farmers to the Coast. Difficulty in securing accommodation for the tourists will necessitate the number being limited to 400, whereas it is expected that those wishing to make tlie trip will number in the vicinity of 1000. Mr F. Pnwson, Railway Business Agent, arrived ill Greymoutli last Saturday, to -confer with the President of the Farmers’ Union (Air J. Mult-are).-It now has been decided that the tourists will leave Dunedin on 28th June, and travel through to Hokitika, arriving there late that night. They will assemble next morning, when the Mayor of Hokitika, and local bodies’ representatives, will accord them a civic welcome, after which the tourists will embark by motor for Koiterangi and Ivokatalii, lunching at the latter place. They will then proceed to Lake Kanieri, and return to Hokitka, where a social function will be arranged for them in the evening.
On tlie Saturday morning the tourists will arrive in Greymouth. The Mayor (Mr J. IV. Greenshule) and representatives of local bodies' will tender them a civic welcome, and they will then make an excursion to Punakaiki,, returning in the afternoon. A social gathering will be arranged for the evening. Oil the Sunday following they will entrain to Ngahere, and from there will he transported to Forests Limited,, out to the sawmill. Penetrating into the bush for about'eleven miles, they then will have a view of Lake Hoclistetter. Refreshments will be provided during the trip and the tourists will then return to Greymouth again to attend a function that evening. The next day. it probably will ho arranged for a trip to the Rewanui State Mine. Returning t6‘ Greymouth the tourists again will be entertained in tlie evening.
On Tuesday, Totara Elat will be visited, and the Otago s excursionists will he entertained there hv the Totara Flat farmers,: and again return to Greymouth. Wednesday, utli July, will see them leaving on their return to Dunedin.
