June 7. “The Times's” Geneva ent reports: Mr Bevin, the British workers' delegate at the Labour Conference. has secured the passage of an amendment, raising questions such as the conditions of ships’ gangways and lighting. Upon these the employers refused to vote. Mr Bevin was coneiliatorv. and he suggested the formation of an Advisory Commission of the dock authorities, shipowners and workers, to prepare the project for a Convention Committee. He rejected an employers’ recommendation for referring the questions to the Joint Maritime Committee. Thereupon the employers' representatives walked out.

thousand marched in the streets singing patriotic songs, and shouting hostility against Italy. The demonstrators tried to storm the Italian Consulate, which a strong force of police and gendarmes prevented. Several arrests were made and calm was restored.
