OVER- A MILLION CASES. WELLINGTON, June 7. An interesting event on the waterfront to-day was the shipping by the Shaw Savill and Albion liner Tamaroa of the millionth ease of apples to be exported from the Dominion this soasn. The ceremony was performed by the Minister of Agriculture, Hon: 0. J. Hawken. The final shipments Tor the season are being taken by the Tamaroa, the Tasmania and the Port Dunedin, all of which are to leave the Dominion on Saturday. The provincial totals of the 1928 season’s apples and pear shipments are as follows: .Nelson, 003,270 cases. Hawke’s Bay. 1195.360 - cases. Otago, 82,000 cases. Auckland. 66,291 cases. Marlborough) 33,044 cases. Poverty Bay, 24,259 cases. Wairarapa, 13,603 cases. Canterbury, 200 cases. Total, 1,018,027 cases. HOCKEY CUP challenge. CHRISTCHURCH. June 8. Aa a meeting of the New Zealand Hockey Association, challenges for the Mordon Cup were received from Wairarapa, Hawke’s Bay. "Wanganui, Taranaki and Manawntu. the last named being reinstated as a minor association.
